On September 21-22, 2026, Forest School Azerbaijan organized a two-day educational program in Talistan for 40 Grade 10 students from TISA (The International School of Azerbaijan).
The main part of the program was a team expedition through the forest, where students navigated using maps, compasses, and natural landmarks, followed clues, and independently found their routes. Participants learned how to locate water sources, set up tents and hammocks, safely start a fire, and properly pack hiking backpacks.
The program also included team discussions, evening activities around the campfire, and a group hike along the scenic forest trails of Talistan. Each challenge required students to demonstrate independence, support one another, communicate effectively, and find solutions in unfamiliar situations.
Built around the principles of learning by doing, the program gave students an opportunity to apply their knowledge in real-life situations while developing self-confidence, responsibility, perseverance, and teamwork skills.
Special attention was given to skills that students will need throughout Grade 10, including those essential for their individual projects within the MYP educational framework.
The two-day expedition combined outdoor learning, physical activity, and shared challenges, creating opportunities for personal growth and strengthening team spirit.
