On September 17-18, 2026, Forest School Azerbaijan organized a two-day educational program in Basqal for 40 students from TISA (The International School of Azerbaijan).
During the program, students explored the historic village of Basqal, discovered its rich cultural heritage, and took part in hands-on activities inspired by Azerbaijani traditions. They decorated traditional silk kelaghayi scarves with patterns, learned how to prepare qutab, a traditional Azerbaijani dish, and completed team challenges that encouraged collaboration, creativity, and joint decision-making.
The program also included sports, team-building games, outdoor activities, and group presentations where students shared their experiences and what they had learned.
Built around the principles of learning by doing, the program gave students an opportunity not only to discover Azerbaijan’s cultural traditions but also to apply their knowledge through practical experiences while developing independence, communication, and teamwork skills.
The two-day expedition brought together cultural education, experiential learning, and meaningful social interaction, demonstrating how exploring national heritage can become an engaging and valuable educational experience.
