What is Forest School?

Forest School is a worldwide and innovative outdoor education model.

This approach to education was first born as an idea in Scandinavian countries, and is now rapidly developing in Europe, Asia, North America and Australia.

Reports prove that in outdoors, children are more motivated to learn and show higher academic results:

Forest School Azerbaijan

Forest School Azerbaijan has been operating since 2017. Our main goal is to develop children, teenagers, and youths in physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and psychological directions through the organization of various educational activities that are in harmony with nature.

This includes a variety of outdoor educational activities, project-based nature experiments, master classes, expeditions, and thematic camps. Nature-based educational programs include not only children but also their families and young educators.

Create opportunities for children and adolescents to develop as creatively minded individuals, by giving them a safe place to take risks, solve problems in unconventional ways, and practice fundamental life and survival skills in an outdoor environment.

Our Vision

To become an effective non-formal outdoor education provider in the South Caucasus region that supports physical, intellectual, social, emotional, psychological, and character development and reveals the inner abilities of children and adolescents.

Six Areas of Development

All children develop at different rates. Their stage of development is often judged merely on their size, age, and physical abilities, but emotional and social development can be far lower. To help your child succeed, you need to set them achievable goals by not expecting them to perform at a level they haven’t yet learnt or reached.

It is important to ask for help or turn to professionals when you think it can be better for your child. Forest School Azerbaijan help children and adolescent in their six areas of development:

Social Development

Social Development

It is the ability to communicate with the people around us. Belonging to a group, freely expressing one’s feelings, and understanding differences between people and the behavior of others. During this process, children gradually develop the skills they need to effectively interact with the environment.

Physical Development

Physical Development

It is a process of physical development through understanding one’s own body, its formation, constant care, active and healthy lifestyle and personal hygiene. Staying in the fresh air and various physical activities are considered the main direction of this development.

Intellectual Development

Intellectual Development

The process of human brain development includes the ability to think, understand, plan, invent, analyze, be creative and apply information, knowledge and skills in different situations. This direction develops in children intellectual adaptability, attention, propensity to take risks, the ability to solve problems, critical thinking, a logical understanding of the environment and what happens in nature.

Emotional Development

Emotional Development

This area of development includes learning about what feelings and emotions are, understanding how and why they arise, recognizing and respecting one’s own feelings and those of others, and developing the ability to manage emotions.

Spiritual Development

Spiritual Development

This area of development covers the cultivation of internal discipline, understanding the purpose of a person in life, his relationship with others, understanding the environment, respect for moral choice, as well as the development of issues related to understanding a person’s place in this world. Through this development, children learn to recognize such qualities as respect for themselves and others, develop responsibility, and also begin to accept the differences between people.

This is linked to the way children form an opinion of themselves

Character Development

It involves the formation of positive personal qualities in the child, the habit of making the most of their capabilities. This includes being positive, responsible, respectful, and willing to put in more effort to achieve your personal interests. This area of development involves the complex application of the previous 5 areas of development in the formation of a child as a person and the simultaneous development of positive skills.
